Spring allergies but there is a solution to that with nature with an unofficial title: "Anti-Allergy Herbs". ![]() I am like a 4-year old asking a hundred questions as to why does something happen; I want to know why to create a solution. Allergies sneak up on us like a marriage anniversary respectfully, we remember months in advance then forget when it is right up on us. What is an allergy? Allergy is anything natural such as pollen, mold, pet dander, food as a harmful substance. The brain says, "Hey! Danger! Danger!" and it releases a chemical called histamine. As to why you purchase OTC called anti-histamine. Over time as your body changes you can become allergic to something in your environment. Or if you change environments. Examples.. Pathway example: Nose and Mouth with Tree Pollen and Mold - Such as, when I was younger I moved to Woodstock, GA and I was horribly allergic to some tree of course in the late 80's/ early 90's, you just got a cold in the spring drank some horrible red stuff, go to school and snot everywhere (gross, I know but true). My mom would pump me full of vitamin C, with a cinnamon/ honey concoction to prevent the cold. It definitely lessened the blow, no pun intended. Therefore, you need to read the room so to speak as to when you change environments, and you develop some type of negative response, have it checked out so you know how to treat it. Another example and an example of the pathway of allergen: skin irritation as an allergic reaction to the environment... My daughter when she was 12 months old, we moved to Southern California, she developed this horrific rash. We thought because as soon as we got to the beach she ate the sand and thought she had a reaction. It was because we moved to a dry environment. Then when we moved to a more humid environment, Southern Florida, it cleared up naturally but I did all kinds of creams, Benadryl (which helped some to clear it up. Now, I know what to do and now I will share with you... It is recommended to start the spring regime right after the last frost in your area. The rain comes soon after causing mold growth in dark areas and trees to blossom which means your car will be green and yellow for a hot minute. But this is something to do immediately when symptoms begin; the window of opportunity before it gets any worse. Of course, please seek medical advise from you medical doctor who knows your case, conduct proper testing- never assume your symptoms are something when they maybe something else. Seek proper counsel - I am basing this article off my own scientific, fact-based peer reviews, research and experience which will appear below. * Cinnamon and Honey 1 tsp local honey with 1/4 tsp cinnamon at least twice daily A few healthy choices to start your spice/ herb cabinet ! Anti-oxidant rich herbs (and spices) Vitamin C rich herbs Elderberry Echinacea Beta Carotene Zinc Selenium Vitamin E Green tea lavender chammomile blackseed oil (cumin) If you have been purchasing or curious of what we do or who we are. We are Skinny South - and oxymoron as we have been told. "The South Health??!"
Yes, the South can be healthy too. Matter of fact if it wasn't for the amount of sugar and processed ingredients used, we would be a Healthier South. In this, I want to highlight herbs... hopefully to keep up and be daily. (Smile) Recently, I gave a speech and it took me back to before Covid where I was traveling and giving speeches, healthy culinary demos and I absolutely love it! I love teaching the beauty about foods and how they can help your body out! It is hard to hear about how some trends, fads and popular "lifestyles" or "diets" remove ingredients that is needed to metabolize other foods or you need them to function. I have had clients on these trends and they ended up in the hospital. Which, many times that happens before I get a call. I am a nutritionist and a chef. I consider myself a holistic chef. I have been practicing this philosophy for 20 years. My enlightening moment, even though I was brought up on natural foods, and my mom pumped me full of vitamins, I never focused much on the science behind it. My mom sold Shaklee. In all those Shaklee meetings of the wonderful George and Floy Teague, I was educated slowly the science behind our beautiful world. Thus, after my horrific car accident which the doctor told me I would not walk again, I began to study anti-oxidants. At the time I was studying for the MCAT and wanted to become a cardiologist. From this car accident, and the birth of my child then a divorce... life said no to cardiology career as a doctor but lead me to help people help prevent or heal from catastrophic events. I have had multiple concussions and survivor or a tramautic brain injury that I take Love Your Brain Yoga in conjunction with homeopathic therapy (daily) biannually to help me continue to heal from the injury. To learn more about Love Your Brain, to help yourself or someone you know - I highly recommend it. Now... enough about why I do what I do... onward to the juice of the information... |
